Androidits : Opera Browser VS Opera Classic : Whats New?

Opera Browsers are one of the leading browsers in the browser market.

Opera Mini is I guess the most downloaded mobile browsers in the market.I began using Opera Mini on a Nokia Phone atleast 5 years ago,it was impressive,it was easy, fast and totally different.Opera is still for me the first choice as a browser on cellphones I own or I would own in future.

Right now Android is dominating the mobile OS market and Opera has made its wonderful creations available on all platforms ,from windows to ios, we can have Opera browser anywhere.

Opera recently updated their long term android browser Opera Classic (previously known as Opera Mobile) to a completly new Opera browser.
This browser had been in beta stage for a lot of time and was finall released as an update to Opera Classic. The new Opera browser is too a treat for any android user. The browser was released for smartphones and phablets initially I guess, because I tried to install it on my 7' inch Samsung tablet through Play Store and found no updates to the previously installed Opera Classic but after a few days it was available for installation.

Opera browser features a completely new user interface,off-road mode, new private tab browsing, navigation bar position changing and lot more.

The Home Screen

The home screen looks quite easy to get acquainted with,it has the same old feel combined with numerous UI changes .The Speed Dial tabs are bigger and their is an option to group website tabs combined together in a folder.
The home screen is swipable with the right side screen bringing up a 'discover' page that keeps users up to date with news and updates from all the news categories and the left side screen bringing up the browsing history.
According to me the Discover feed is an excellent catch for the browser, staying up to date without browsing through numerous website is a gift of time.

The Off Road Mode

The Off Road Mode is quite the same as the Opera Turbo in the Opera Classic browser, whenever we are browsing on a low speed connection we can switch on the Off Road mode to compress the data received. You will notice the change in the quality of the pictures on websites on enabling the mode. The quality of pictures can also be changed and defined in the settings window.
Off Road mode is a boon if you are on a tight data plan,it saves a lot of data.Make sure to use it time to time to see the savings.

The Tabs

Well, this new tab look is kind of a downside for me,i would have preferred the older tab switching methods on a tablet. They were small and didnt occupy much of the screen. The new tabs button opens up the tabs in use and takes up half of the screen. It does look good but not so impressive.

The Navigation Bar

The navigation bar is the same as it was in the previous versions.Sleek and Simple.
Their is an option to hide the navigation bar and enabling full screen view for webpages.
The most wonderful feature according to me in the new version is the nav bar position switching. It really is an 'argh'to strech a finger to the top of the tablet to bring up some functions. The bottom position is wonderful for tablets and phablets,it would be really very helpful and comforting for many users. If this feature would have been in the previous browser I would have never updated. :)

Discover Screen

Just Swipe right in the home screen and know what's happening around the world.Very innovative and wonderful,I had seen this feature in some java versions of Opera Mini,it was really good and so is in the android version.
The android version discover window is completely user friendly, you can select categories of news you want to see on the page, select location based news feeds and much more.

Download Window

Opera has again missed upgrading the download window and make it download friendly, people who have used UC browser may get an awry feeling.Their is no change in the download process and it still looks the same with a simple downloaded files list with a 'delete' and 'open' option on finishing the download and 'pause' and 'delete' option while downloading.Opera should introduce a completely different download manager with download speed mentions, rename option and many other features.(what say guys)

Address Bar is the Search Bar

The address bar is the search bar with selectable search engines and the older search tab has vanished, well minimizing the UI has never been so easy.It can get messy sometimes when searching but new things are great....we should get acquainted to them.Saving pages and adding to speed dial is also triggered through this bar.

Settings Window

This window has most options as the previous versions like accepting cookies, clear history, about etc.Additions to the menu are new tabs opening configuration ,nav bar position etc.

Cards on the table, the new browser is for a better and eye candy experience,I personally would still use the old Opera because I have used it for many years(have got acquainted to it) and found the update not so tempting to replace the browsing experience provided by the previous version.Going with the change is good and switching to the new browser won't be troubling.

Experience The Change

These were the many changes that I found while using the new version of Opera browser. If I have missed anything please feel free to point out.I have only tried it on a single android tablet so user interface and settings may be different in some device.

Please ignore minor mistakes as these are my starting posts.

Take Care

May god have mercy on us.
